October 30, 2021, the National Ski Mountaineering Invitational Competition (one of a series of activities of the 19th China’s Tibet Mountaineering Convention) kicked off at Luodui Peak, Damxung County of Lhasa City. This was the first event of its kind organized by the Tibet Autonomous Region to construct a competitive platform for professional skiers, upgrade their competitive capacities and skills.
Over 20 athletes took part in this competition, which was split into two races: vertical and short-distance. In recent years, the Tibet Autonomous Region has been promoting the progress of several specialty sports’ projects, including cross-country skiing and ski mountaineering. Efforts made for these sports and initiatives have so far resulted in a substantial emergence of outstanding young athletes.
