After the peaceful liberation of Xizang, 10th Panchen Erdeni attended the First National People’s Congress in Beijing in 1954. On September 11 of that year, Chairman Mao met with 10th Panchen Erdeni for the first time at the Qinzheng Hall in Zhongnanhai.
