In early February, more than 1,400 sheep in Tuiwa village, Nanggarze County, Lhoka City, Tibet, are passing through the Purmo Yumco Lake on their way to an island in the middle of the lake.

It is reported that due to the high altitude and short summer in Tuiwa village, the pasture cannot provide sufficient winter fodder for sheep.

Therefore, every year when the plateau is at its coldest, the herdsmen in Tuiwa village would drive their sheep to the island in the middle of the lake with abundant grass, to survive the coldest winter.
