Niji: Villager of border area of Gar, Tibet "The lives of us on the border line has become better and better under the Party’s favorable policies. Thus we will defend the border area for the motherland!" Niji, a delegate of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China from Demqog Village, Zhaxigang Township, Gar County, Tibet, talked about the changes in their life over the years. No pain, no gains. That's a good quote for Niji's life. Behind the honors such as the "national Most Beautiful Family", the "autonomous region Female Poverty Alleviation Expert", is NIji’s painstaking hard work. At the age of 13, Niji suffered a comminuted fracture to her left thigh in a car accident. After more than 10 operations, Niji's mother took her to Chengdu, Sichuan Province, for treatment and fitted her leg with an external brace. Everything comes to those who wait. In 2011, Niji finally ditched the crutches. However, the mother's presence came to an abrupt end in 2015. Hitted by the loss of a beloved one, Niji did not retreat, but wiped away tears to strive for a better life. In order to make a good living, Niji planned to open a canteen in the village. In 2012, the County’s Women's Federation visited her village for investigation. After learning about Niji's story, they actively helped her apply for a women's small discount loan of 40,000 yuan from the bank to expand the scale of the canteen. She also moved in with other villagers to Xiaokang Village, a new home built by Shaanxi Province, and opened a teahouse in Xiaokang Village. As her life gets better, Niji has never forgotten the villagers. Every winter she would visit the lonely old people in the village. In addition, Niji also helps them on the road to prosperity with all her business experience in these years. This year, Niji has a new identity- a delegate of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China. “It is a great honor to attend the Party's 20th National Congress. It will be an experience I will never forget. After returning to the village, I will take the lead in learning, publicizing and implementing the spirit of the meeting, living up to the villagers' expectations of me." |
