Shilok Drolma: From a Farm Girl to World Champion



One day in July 2022, Shilok Drolma was happy and surprised to know that she has been selected as the delegate of the 20th National Congress of CPC.

Shilok Drolma was born on October 24th, 1987 to an ordinary farming family in Zhongshaba Village, Puqu Township, Bayi District, Nyingchi City. In 2001, she was selected by the Tibet Autonomous Region Sports School to start wrestling training because she had solid basic skills and great strength. Later, she was selected to join the sports managing center of the Tibet Autonomous Region (formerly sports team of the Tibet Autonomous Region).

As the shortest member in the team, Shilok Drolma never stopped her endeavor. In 2009, she became one of the top three players in the national championship and was selected by the national team. In 2014, she won the silver medal in Women's freestyle Wrestling 63 kg in the Asian Games.

Growing up from a farm girl to a world champion, Shilok Drolma enjoyed a different life from the development of sports, and also witnessed the development and changes of sports in Tibet.

In 2017, Shilok Drolma retired from competitions and started managing the athlete teams. In recent years, she has experienced one National Games, one National Youth Games, two Regional Games and other games, learning much vocational skills and managing experience.

The transformation from professional athlete to the section chief of the training section of the sports managing center of the Tibet Autonomous Region has brought Shilok Drolma many new understandings to sports.

Shilok Drolma says that being selected as the delegate of the 20th National Congress of CPC is the highest honor of her life. From now on, she will continue to work with all her energy and contribute to the development of sports in Tibet.
