"Ongkor Festival" celebrated in Sangtak Village, Tibet

Whenever the highland barley wheat fields are golden and full of grains, Tibet’s agricultural areas celebrate the annual Ongkor Festival.

During the most important ceremony of the "Ongkor Festival", villagers put on their finest festive costumes and circle around the golden fields to pray for a good harvest. "Ongkor Festival" is usually held in townships or villages, and the annual time of the festival is determined according to the time when the local crops are ripe and the calculated auspicious days.

Recently, the annual Ongkor Festival was held in Sangtak Village, Newu Township, Doilungdeqen District of Lhasa, Tibet Autonomous Region. People celebrated together with highland barley wine and cypress branches for prayer fires.
