World's highest wind power station opens in Tibet

World's highest wind power station opens in Nagqu Prefecture, northwest Tibet on Oct.31, making a breakthrough in the wind power construction in Tibet.

Owned by the Tibet branch of National Grid, the Nagqu wind power station initiates 5 wind power plants at present.

According Xiao Jingzhi, one engineer of this project, the Nagqu wind power station is the first of its kind in Tibet. It plans to build 33 wind power plants, with a total capacity of 49.5 MW. The construction will be divided into two phases, with 5 plants completed this year generating the capacity of 10.66 million KWH.

The Nagqu wind power station work normally after several days of running. Xiao Jingzhi said, the new method of power generation will relieve the power shortage of Nagqu Prefecture and the whole region of Tibet.
