Athlete from Tibet Autonomous Region Penba Tsering won the first prize of the dressage competition during the 2013 China Equestrianism Festival on Nov.9, reported by Xinhua. According to the competition committee, the dressage competition is one of eventing's three challenges. Eventing, also called combined training, puts together the obedience of dressage with the athletic ability of show jumping and speed competition. The equestrianism team from Tibet has a good performance in competitions at home and abroad. They won the silver medal during the group competition of eventing in 12th China's national games held in Sep. 2013. With the support from the regional government, Tibet has allocated eight million yuan to help the team purchase imported horses. Foreign coaches were also invited to give instructions to the team. "Tibetan people, especially farmers and herdsmen, like riding. We trained very hard to win the honor for our Tibetan people", said by one Tibetan athlete. From the ancient time, horse is closely contacted with Tibetans' material and spirit aspiration. Horse is the daily partner of Tibetans that has become the life in Tibetans' hearts. Horse Racing Fair is a unique festival in Tibet. It is usually held between June and July in Tibetan calendar. The most famous ones of them are the Horse Racing Art Festival of Nagqu and Darma Festival of Gyangze. |
