World's largest Thangka displayed in Tibet
From: China Tibet Online
The world's largest embroidery painting Thangka was displayed in Maizhokunggar County of Lhasa, capital of southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region, June 28, 2013.

The piece of Thangka artwork boasts 19 statues of Buddha on it with a total area of 10,200 square meters. The Thangka is dubbed as "Drigung embroidery Thangka", a distinctive school of Thangka making with a history of over 400 years.

Migmar Tsering, the main creator of the giant Thangka and also Thangka inheritor of the sixth generation in his family, finished the giant Thangka work with his nine disciples after nine years' efforts.

The Migmar Tsering's Thangka work is recognized as the largest Thangka piece in the world by the World Record Association, a folk non-sports world record organization.
